I call my horn “Bessie” – she’s silver “cigar cutter” tenor sax from 1933. Ok , she is a bit heavier than a modern horn, and maybe the G sharp key sticks a bit (as does the F sharp), and the plating is definitely a little faded (in the classic car world we call that patina) and Ok some of the keys are hard to press.
But – she’s quite rare and has a beautiful rich tone and plays great after nearly 80 years. (I hope I’m playing as well after 80 years!)
It is a horn of great beauty – I will post pics soon!
